Truth About Amazon & Flipkart Hidden Fees ๐ก | Don’t Get Scammed!
๐ฎ๐ณ Intro
Hello friends, Jai Hind!
How are you all?
What’s really going on with online platforms these days? I was ordering a product and noticed I was being charged ₹200, ₹300, ₹150 unnecessarily. My 35% discount was reduced because of these hidden charges.
So today, I want to talk about online platforms. This is important, and I think everyone should discuss it. I’ll also share some real-life consumer problems.
๐ฆ Growth of Online Platforms
I was searching on Google—Flipkart started in 2007 as a bookstore.
Amazon entered India around 2013.
Today, these platforms have become huge. Everything is sold here—gadgets, clothing, fashion, and more.
There are many platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, Blinkit, Myntra, Nykaa, etc.
But since my content focuses on tech, I mainly talk about Amazon and Flipkart.
⚠️ Rising Consumer Problems
Over time, as users increased, terms and conditions also changed.
Some changes are understandable, but now consumers are being charged extra in the name of fees.
Authorities should take strict action because consumers are facing losses.
๐ Fake Products & Seller Issues
- Sometimes, you order a MacBook and get an old one
- Delivery agents or sellers mess up orders
- Fake or low-quality products appear under “Assured” or “Choice” tags
- Anyone can become a seller and list products
Platforms are not controlling this properly.
๐ธ Hidden Charges Problem
Let me give you real examples:
Example 1 (Phone Order)
- Offer Handling Fee: ₹69
- Payment Fee: ₹25
- Protect Promise Fee: ₹79
➡️ Total extra: ₹173
Example 2 (MacBook Air M2)
- Expected price: ₹63,989
- Extra charges:
- ₹69 (offer fee)
- ₹126 (payment fee)
- ₹149 (protection fee)
➡️ Total extra: ₹344
๐ That’s almost 35% of my discount gone!
๐คจ Inconsistent Charges
- Some products have ₹69 fee
- Others ₹149
- Some have no fee at all
There is no consistency. It feels random and unfair.
⚖️ Dark Patterns Concern
There are rules about “dark patterns” (hidden charges).
You can complain at 1915 if:
- Charges are not shown upfront
But platforms show small text before checkout, so they may legally protect themselves.
๐ Flipkart vs Amazon
- Flipkart is adding more aggressive charges
- Amazon has fewer charges but has also started adding fees (like ₹5 marketplace fee)
Both platforms are gradually introducing similar practices.
❌ Order Cancellation Issues
- Orders get canceled even after confirmation
- Especially during big sales
- Reason given: “Incorrect pricing”
Example:
iPhone ordered at ₹33,000 → canceled later
This is allowed under their terms, but it ruins customer experience.
๐ฑ Real Consumer Cases
Case 1: Pre-activated Phone
- Ordered Samsung S25 Ultra
- Warranty already started
- Customer rejected delivery
- No proper resolution yet
Case 2: Order Cancelled Midway
- iPhone order shipped → canceled
- Reason: pricing error
Case 3: Open Box Delivery Removed
- Option disappeared before delivery
- Customer canceled order
Case 4: Used Phone Data Found
- iPhone came sealed
- But had photos inside
- Replacement given
Case 5: Wrong Product Delivered
- Ordered iQOO Z10X
- Got iQOO Z10
- Better product, but mismatch creates issues later
⭐ Fake Ratings & Reviews
- Ratings from old models get merged with new ones
- New product shows thousands of reviews instantly
- Sellers offer money for 5-star reviews
๐ This misleads customers.
๐ฆ Open Box Delivery Tip
When delivery comes:
- Don’t share OTP immediately
- First open and check product
- Ensure everything is correct
- Only then give OTP
Otherwise, you can’t complain later.
๐ง What Needs to Improve
Platforms must:
- Control fake sellers
- Stop misleading ratings
- Fix cancellation policies
- Regulate hidden charges
- Improve quality checks
๐งพ Conclusion
I’m not saying don’t buy from these platforms—I also use them.
But:
๐ If these issues continue, trust will decrease
๐ People will hesitate to buy expensive products online
